Porto and the North of the country launch humorous campaign to attract business tourism to the region

Porto and the North of the country launch humorous campaign to attract business tourism to the region
18 Oct 2021

Business doesn’t have to be done in an overly formal environment. The person who says this is Ofelia de Souza, the illustrious leading actor of the new campaign launched today by Turismo do Porto e Norte de Portugal, aimed at the increasingly more competitive Meeting Industry sector, and that presents the Region as an "excellent destination for business tourism”.

It’s a three-minute video to know "The Majestic Adventures of Ofelia de Souza”, a 72-year-old experienced and extravagant event’s organizer and epicurean, who wishes her business travel doesn’t make her "die of boredom”, in other words, just a "big pain in the back”.

Because "time is Money”, the counting of time starts on the Clérigos Tower clock. But the campaign takes the leading lady on boat trips along the Douro River, discovering Serralves' TreeTop Walk, feeding social media at Casa da Música or acknowledging the splendor of Livraria Lello and the taste of francesinha. Porto and the North appear in the campaign as a "stage to meet the needs and ambitions” of those who travel here for work.

Turismo do Porto e Norte explains that "all of the character’s costumes and interactions refer to products and spaces that represent the region’s design, culture, industry and fashion, in a film that aims to show that the destination has all it takes to organize large events, or exclusive events, opening the range for the great diversity of the tourist offer oriented to this segment”.

The video will be promoted in international markets and intends to share the concept of "bleisure” - a word that joins business and leisure. In an announcement, Luís Pedro Martins head of the institution emphasises that "Betting in the meeting industry again is fundamental for the Turismo do Porto e Norte, derived from the multiplier effect of this product at the destination, both for tourism and in combating seasonality”.

At the end of the campaign, Ofelia de Souza shares some important advice with those who visit the region: "Now that you know where your next business trip will be, bear in mind that Porto wine isn’t a shot. And don’t forget to add cinnamon to your nata”.
