Anchorage Digital opens its office in Porto with a new visual identity

Anchorage Digital will finally open its office on Rua D. João IV, in Porto. The space was acquired in 2020 by the fintech but was closed for renovations. The office opening of the first crypto unicorn with national DNA will be on December 15, when the new visual identity will also be launched. Currently, the cryptocurrency bank led by Diogo Mónica has about 30 vacancies for the fourth quarter of 2022 in Portugal and the United States, People knows.

The new office will have an open space area, three meeting rooms and an all-hands area, where the company's global meetings should take place. The working model followed by the company remains remote friendly, offering total freedom to employees to decide from where they prefer to work.

Anchorage Digital is committed to a hybrid model offering employees the "flexibility they need to work in the way that is most productive for them and their families.

In addition to flexibility in location, the fintech - which in December 2021 raised $350 million (about €309 million), bringing its valuation to $3 billion (about €2.7 billion) - has also implemented flexitime, Anchoring Day - which is an extra day of rest every month for employees - as well as unlimited holiday days.

On the day of the new office opening, the fintech will also launch its new visual identity. "The new logo captures the ongoing journey of growth, at a time when the crypto universe needs a solid foundation and tested and trusted infrastructures. That's why we selected an anchor shape that stays true to our name. It is also reflected in the four blocks that represent our core principles: industry-leading security, regulatory leadership, custody as a foundation, and our commitment to customers," the company says.

"We have and will continue to practice a 'security first' model with custody as the foundation so that our other offerings are equally safe and secure. Ultimately, keeping customers' assets safe is the most important thing we do, which reflects our approval as a bank - at the federal level - our security model and strong controls. In Portugal, Anchorage Digital has 90 employees spread throughout the country. By the end of the year, the technology company intends to recruit about 30 more professionals in Portugal and the United States of America (USA). The company does not discriminate vacancies by geography, since many - because it is remote work - can be performed from any of the locations in question.

Despite the current climate in the cryptocurrency sector, the company's plans remain the same: to reach 400 employees by the end of the year, as guaranteed in a recent interview with ECO, Diogo Mónica "We don't know what's coming tomorrow. I wasn't expecting [the collapse of] FTX, I wasn't expecting [the collapse of] Alameda, and we'll see what the impact is on the market. But we don't have any plans to change course at this point," the cofounder said.

"Right now, there are no plans for either of those paths (layoffs or slowing/freezing hiring). The current plan is to maintain product goals, maintain the goals of the engagements we've made with customers and re-evaluate every six months," he further said.
