The Lisbon MBA Católica|Nova and Porto Business School (PBS) are the two Portuguese schools that appear in the ranking of the British consultancy firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), which evaluates the performance of MBAs at a global level. The "QS Global MBA Rankings 2023", published this Thursday, places The Lisbon MBA in 34th place and the PBS in 71st place, sharing this position with other seven schools, from the European top, which analysed 73 schools.

The joint venture between Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics and Nova School of Business and Economics, in collaboration with MIT Sloan School of Management, which maintains the position achieved in the previous edition, obtained an overall score of 53.9.

Its value proposition is based on providing a truly global experience, with holistic development and a remarkable action learning approach, in a diverse and entrepreneurial city. Thus, the diversity of nationalities, the entrepreneurial spirit and alumni results, and leadership are the most highly scored parameters.

Porto Business School, whose overall score is not disclosed, has been in this ranking for five consecutive years. This year the special emphasis goes to the return on investment and employability indicators. In addition, the business school registered a significant increase in the indicators of reputation and diversity of nationalities.

"The consolidation of Porto Business School's position in the QS rankings reinforces our commitment and our will to continue to do more and better," comments Ramon O'Callaghan, dean of Porto Business School, in a statement. "These results demonstrate that we are on the right track to offer students and companies a training of excellence, internationally recognized, and that responds to the challenges and needs of an increasingly demanding and constantly changing world," he concludes.

The "QS Global MBA Rankings 2023" evaluated 300 MBA programmes from 47 countries, based on information gathered from educational institutions and also from employers, namely the reputation of recruiters. The performance of MBA programmes is calculated based on groups of indicators and a weighting, for which factors such as employability, return on investment, entrepreneurship and alumni development, leadership and diversity are assessed.
