BigCity Porto Asprela Co-Living, a modern and futuristic way of life

BigCity Porto Asprela Co-Living, a modern and futuristic way of life
08 May 2023

During 2022 interest in residential investments in Portugal continued to grow, as was demonstrated by the increasing number of transactions, the highest in the last 10 years. This was also the case for student and co-living developments.

In this area BigCity delivered its first project on the Asprela campus, Porto’s main university district 3km north of the city centre and home to 35,000 students.  The building, unique in the landscape of Porto with its original circular shape and innovative design, will host 241 guests on 12 different storeys and is conveniently situated adjacent to Polo Universitário Metro station allowing for rapid transport downtown.

ESG compliance has been at the forefront of the wellbeing-led design. They have endeavoured to create an empowering space for residents to lead a healthier, more connected and fulfilling lifestyle and the scheme is specified to achieve a Silver LEED certification.

All rooms are en-suite and include kitchenette, wardrobe, a study area, individual air conditioning and private balcony.  Part of the building will be dedicated to students with the upper floors for co-living to house young professionals, an area of which will be exclusively female.  BigCity guests will enjoy a variety of communal areas including TV and gaming, co-working, lounge and quiet study areas, communal and private dining, and a stunning roof top terrace incorporating a gym with views over the city.  The experience is further complimented by services such as a convenient all-inclusive bill, reception/ security on call 24/7, cleaning services, car and bicycle parking with EV charging points, and high speed Wi-Fi.

Charlie Alcock from BigCity founder and CEO of BigCity added, ‘With the fallout from the pandemic and the subsequent inflationary aftershocks, it’s obviously been a bit of a bumpy ride for international development.  That being said we’ve managed to weather the economic storm in good order delivering a building of which we are proud.  It’s finally being used for what it was intended and it’s very satisfying to see it being so well received by the residents.  It’s made all the incredible hard work worthwhile.’
