Dachser, one of the world's leading logistics companies, will strengthen its presence in Portugal with the opening of a Corporate IT Hub in Porto, as part of the company's global digital innovation strategy.
The DACHSER Corporate IT Hub Portugal began operating this November in temporary premises in Porto. The recruitment process, which is already underway, foresees the creation of more than 100 highly qualified jobs by the end of 2026. The move to the new, permanent premises, with an area of more than 750 square meters, is scheduled for the second quarter of 2025.
This hub will be Dachser's second largest IT centre globally, complementing the company's existing IT locations in Germany, France, Spain, Hong Kong, and the US. Closely incorporated into the company’s IT structure, Porto's new Corporate IT hub will play a key role in the development of innovative digital solutions to optimize Dachser’s logistics services.
Stefan Hohm, Dachser's Chief Development Officer (CDO), underlines the strategic importance of this investment in Portugal: "We’ve relied on tightly integrated systems and transparent data exchange for many years. In today’s dynamic and volatile business environment, however, we need to digitalize even faster and more thoroughly so we can meet the increasing demands for transparency, adaptability, security, efficient use of resources and, last but not least, sustainability. With the Corporate IT hub in Portugal, we’re strengthening our digital capabilities and supporting the future growth of the company.”
"The city of Porto has several competitive advantages, starting with its international environment, which is very technology oriented. Porto offers a high level of innovation and cybersecurity expertise and offers access to excellent IT talent, partly due to its proximity to several universities. It is definitely on its way to becoming one of the most important technology centres in Europe,” says Ralf Morawietz, Corporate Director IT (CIO) at Dachser.
Ricardo Valente, Porto City Councilor for Economy, Employment, and Entrepreneurship, also highlights the importance of this investment for the city's business landscape: "Dachser's presence, a process that we've been following from the start with InvestPorto, demonstrates the city's ability to attract investments with high added value and strong demands in terms of human resources and technology from companies that are world references.”
