A new milestone for Dachser in Portugal:

Dachser officially inaugurated its new Corporate IT Hub facilities at the ICON Douro building in Porto. The space, located on the 2nd floor and covering around 750 sqm., now accommodates the company's 67 current employees, from 8 different nationalities. By the end of 2025, this number is expected to reach 90, consolidating Porto as the company’s second largest digital hub worldwide, right after its headquarters in Kempten, Germany. The event, which took place on October 20th, was attended by Stefan Hohm, Chief Development Officer (CDO) at Dachser, and Ralf Morawietz, CIO at Dachser. Susana Pinto, Head of the Porto City Council's Economics Department and representing InvestPorto, also took part in the opening event.

The importance of Corporate IT Hub Portugal:

Operational since the last quarter of 2024, the Corporate IT Hub in Porto strengthens Dachser’s global capacity for innovation and digitalization. Alongside the existing Corporate IT locations in Germany, France, Hong Kong, and the United States, this hub plays a key role in the development and optimization of the company’s core systems, which are responsible for integrated management of transport and warehousing, IT security, and the implementation of the group’s digital strategy.

In Porto, Dacher's teams contribute to a wide range of strategic areas, driving the development and optimization of innovative software products and solutions that enable more transparent transport processes and more efficient warehouse management systems. Their expertise spans software engineering, front-end and back-end development, interface and user experience design (UI/UX), data analysis, quality assurance, cloud infrastructure, and project management - all essential to strengthening Dachser’s global digital capabilities.

"To achieve our goal of becoming the most integrated logistics provider worldwide, we must also become the most digitalized logistics provider. The Corporate IT Hub in Portugal enhances our digital capabilities and therefore supports the company’s growth,” says Stefan Hohm, Chief Development Officer (CDO) at Dachser.

Why Porto:

For Dachser, the decision to establish the Corporate IT Hub in Portugal was strategic. Porto combines a privileged location, proximity to leading universities, an international and growing technology environment, and a high quality of life - all key factors for attracting talent from different backgrounds. According to Ralf Morawietz, Corporate Director IT (CIO) at Dachser, "the city of Porto offers a high level of innovation and expertise in technology and cybersecurity, as well as access to outstanding IT talent. It is undoubtedly on its way to becoming one of Europe’s most important technology hubs.”

The pillars of innovation and technology:

Digitalization is one of Dachser’s strategic focus programmes. Beyond ensuring competitiveness and efficiency, it supports the continuous evolution of the business, underpinning the company’s mission to be not only the most integrated logistics service provider, but also the most digitalized.

Technology plays a central role in operations at Dachser, enabling a high level of integration and supporting the company’s growth. By embedding digital functionalities into its global logistics network, the company increases efficiency, reduces response times, and delivers more accurate solutions tailored to the needs of customers and partners. Investments in Corporate IT Hubs, such as the one in Porto, are essential to strengthening digital capabilities, developing new solutions, and providing more agile and targeted support.
