FEUP-Born Startup Launches Sustainable Device Made in Portugal
Alumni startup launches eco-friendly razor, reinforcing Porto’s sustainable innovation
A startup founded by alumni of the Integrated Master’s in Mechanical
Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of
the University of Porto (FEUP) has launched NATU, a
sustainable shaving device designed and produced in Portugal.
Developed
by Decimal Devotion, a spin-off of the University of Porto and incubated at the Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto (UPTEC), the
product combines the convenience of disposable razors with the durability and
eco-friendly approach of traditional razors.
The project was successfully funded on Kickstarter,
raising around €16,000 from more than 250 supporters, surpassing its initial
goal. The brand is now available online and aims to expand into pharmacies and
sustainability-focused retail.
NATU’s launch highlights Porto’s growing reputation as a hub for engineering
talent, innovation and sustainable product development. Supported by strong
universities and infrastructure such as UPTEC, projects like this reinforce the
city’s competitiveness and its ability to scale globally from Porto, an
environment that InvestPorto continues to promote to international investors
and entrepreneurs.
