At the official inauguration of what will be the European headquarters of the Californian company, the City Councilor for Economy, Employment, and Entrepreneurship, Ricardo Valente emphasized the importance of support from entities such as InvestPorto and the Portuguese Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade (AICEP) for the establishment of multinational companies in the country.

Ricardo Valente emphasizes the arrival of Five9 in the city of Porto marks the beginning of the city's journey with North American companies listed on Nasdaq. This investment in the city of Porto demonstrates the city's ability to be recognised as a centre of excellence for companies with global business scope and in highly competitive markets, where human capital is a key factor for business sustainability.

On the other hand, the CEO of the technology company, Mike Burkland, stated that the choice of the new location was due not only to Porto's growing potential as a sustainable investment destination in the field of information technologies but also to the interest shown by international employees in the city.

"The city is an emerging technological center and well-connected with a large base of engineering talent that will allow us to continue our mission of bringing innovation to the customer experience and business transformation to companies worldwide," emphasizes Mike Burkland.

In an interview with Executive Digest, Daniel Silva, the manager of Five9 in Portugal, explained that the company is making a strong investment outside the United States and felt the need to create an European R&D center in Porto, that will serve over 2,500 clients worldwide.

The manager ensured that the company wants to "turn this office into a world-class center of excellence, with the aim of supporting and growing the business in the region, through strong sales teams, professional services, support, and customer management."
