French programming school 42 settles in Porto after two years in Lisbon

French programming school 42 settles in Porto after two years in Lisbon
30 May 2022
42 was founded in Paris in 2013 and now has more than 10,000 students from over 25 countries, which places it among the largest programming schools in the world.

According to ECO, the French programming school landed in Portugal in July 2020 and features a gamified learning model, "without schedules or teachers", counting with more than 20,000 applications in Lisbon, where around 400 students are aged between 17 and 57.

The new campus in Porto is located near Avenida dos Aliados, in the centre of the city, in the former Palácio dos Correios, a space lent by Critical Techworks, and will open its doors on June 4th, 2022, with an annual investment of approximately one million euros.

ECO also adds that SaltPay and Critical Techworks are founding partners of 42 Porto, led by Mafalda Sousa Guedes, who also plays the same role in the capital. Companies such as Amorim, Sogrape, Sonae, Prozis and also Porto City Council support the project of the French programming school.

The first course, which starts at the end of October, is already accepting applications. Applicants must complete two online logic games of approximately 2 hours, a one-hour campus visit, and an intense 26-day bootcamp in which they explore the school's approach and programming projects to later become official students of 42. This summer, 600 people are expected to integrate three "Piscines", as these events are known.
