Greater Porto prepares for another edition of MIPIM
The municipalities of Porto, Gaia, and Matosinhos began preparations for another edition of one of Europe's largest real estate fairs, with the Greater Porto Meet-Up.
The Greater Porto project - comprising the municipalities of Porto, Matosinhos, and Vila Nova de Gaia - is preparing itself for another participation in the MIPIM real estate fair, taking place in Cannes during March. With the recent Greater Porto Meet-Up, which took place at Casa do Infante in Porto, the three municipalities kicked-off this process in a cooperative way.
The session was attended by municipal representatives from each of the three territories, including Porto City Councillor Hugo Beirão, Matosinhos City Councillor Marta Pontes, GaiUrb Board Chairman Amorim Pereira, as well as several companies interested in joining the Greater Porto delegation at MIPIM 2026. In a new political context, marked by the arrival of different municipal executives, the representatives highlighted the widespread recognition of the strategic importance of the Greater Porto project, as well as the desire to continue and deepen the legacy of inter-municipal cooperation and dialogue that the project built up over the last several years.
The three municipalities reaffirmed Greater Porto's mission to promote the value of the region, attract high value international investment, and open up new horizons for the overall territory. In this regard, Hugo Beirão, Porto City Councillor for Economy and Entrepreneurship, highlighted Porto's commitment to "affirming and reinforcing the importance of Greater Porto as a project for cooperation and inter-municipal dialogue, with a clear mission and vision: to enhance the value of a region, attracting international investment, capitalising on added value and opening up new horizons."
During the session, objectives, expectations, and best practices for participation in MIPIM were shared, outlining a coordinated plan for the joint promotion of the territory in one of Europe's largest real estate fairs.
As in previous years, MIPIM is a privileged stage for harnessing the economic dynamics of each municipality, allowing them to be projected onto the international stage by promoting the region's main investment opportunities. At the same time, the event offers territories the opportunity to keep up with emerging trends in the global real estate market.
The importance of the project's partner companies was also widely highlighted, with a record number of over 20 companies joining the Greater Porto delegation at MIPIM 2026. The municipal representatives emphasised that the promotion of the territory is the result of a joint effort between the municipalities and the private sector, with these companies playing a key role as true international ambassadors for Greater Porto.
In 2025, MIPIM brought together more than 2,400 companies and exceeded 20,000 participants. The Greater Porto stand, in particular, was visited by more than 7,000 people, reinforcing the territory's international reputation and positioning.
