InvestPorto Launches digital nomads porto
New project was launched and presented first-hand during Porto's participation in Web Summit 2024
Aiming to show Porto is 'the place to be' and promote an increasingly strong and structured talent attraction strategy, the Municipality, through InvestPorto, created digital nomads Porto, a project that features a welcoming platform for professionals who choose to work from the city.
This new project was presented first-hand during Web Summit 2024, and aims to attract digital nomads who can bring economic value and wealth to Porto's local economy.
"Currently, besides being a very important destination from the point of view of start-ups, Porto is also becoming a digital nomad ecosystem", says Ricardo Valente, City Councillor for Economy, Employment, and Entrepreneurship.
In an interview with the ECO newspaper, Ricardo Valente emphasised how these professionals "mobilise lots of diversity from the entrepreneurial ecosystem perspective, while adding relevant value to the economy."
The new platform provides answers to usual questions posed by digital nomads, such as existing co-working spaces in the city, the average price of a flat, as well as issues related to water and electricity contracts or legal obligations to fulfil.
With this project, Porto is seeking to be at the forefront of the future of labour and to take advantage of the potential brought about by changes in the way people relate to the labour world and the growing number of professionals who work remotely.
