Danish ISS A/S, a leading work experience and facilities management company, opened a technology centre in Porto dedicated to software development, marking another important milestone in its digital transformation journey.

In order to make the company a technological leader in its field, the new technology centre ISS Tech Portugal will be "fully operational by the end of this year", reads a statement. The goal will be to have 100 employees in Porto by the end of 2023.

ISS Tech Portugal will support ISS' overall goal of accelerating the development of integrated technology solutions and establishing innovative digital products for its more than 350,000 employees and around 40,000 global customers. The development of innovative and high-quality solutions in the areas of IoT, Mobile, Data and Integrations is the focus of the new teams in Portugal.

The ISS Tech Portugal technology centre will complement the technology centres already established by the company in Denmark and Poland.

"Our new technology centre in Porto is an important milestone in our digital transformation. To become the technology leader in our industry, we are not only investing in cutting-edge technology but also increasing our internal capacity on a global scale," Markus Sontheimer, Group Chief Information & Digital Officer, said in a statement.

The company valued Porto as an "international and vibrant technology centre", noting that "both startups and large companies on a global scale value their highly skilled technology professionals", the statement added, highlighting the existence "in the city and surrounding areas" of "several renowned universities that feed the labour market with highly qualified young people."

ISS has as partner the Portuguese-German technology company Xelerate Portugal, based in Porto, which provides tailor-made solutions in the process of digital transformation, through the setup of high performance software development teams in Portugal.
