Porto Airport once again among the best in Europe

Porto Airport once again among the best in Europe
02 Mar 2021
The Airport Council Intenational (ACI Europe) again lists Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport as one of the best European airports. This year's edition brought a new category and highlighted the equipment that best adopted hygiene measures compared to Covid-19. And so, Porto Airport adds yet another distinction to the portfolio.

The distinction for "Best Airport" is made according to the airport size in the European region, with Porto sharing the prize with Faro Airport in the range between 5 and 15 million passengers.

The "Hygiene Award" is a novelty in this edition and the aim is to recognize the capacity of airports to ensure hygienic and safe environments, and the maintenance of the necessary measures to meet the needs and expectations of passengers.

"The Covid-19 pandemic had a dramatic impact on global passenger traffic in 2020, as well as changing customer perceptions and expectations regarding the airport experience", says the ACI, in a statement.

For the director general of ACI World, Luís Felipe de Oliveira, "the awards demonstrate the focus of the winning airports in offering experiences of excellence".

Thierry Liggonière, director of ANA Aeroportos de Portugal, also stresses the importance of this recognition. "In a year of uncertainty, our teams have shown commitment and resilience. We were able to reinvent ourselves, adapt and innovate, ensuring the protection of everyone, for everyone".

The official believes that "these awards indicate that we are on the right path for the resumption of the aviation market, with the necessary confidence in the new passenger experience".

The International Airport Organization awards recognize European equipment every year, looking for examples of excellence in the continuous investment in the experience and safety of passengers this time also in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. The ACI prizes were awarded within the scope of the international ASQ program, Quality of Airport Services, which measures passengers' overall satisfaction with the services and products offered. This is not the first time that Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport is among the best in Europe.
