Porto hosts the first SIM Conference
The SIM Conference (Startups & Investment Matching) aims to match startups, entrepreneurs, and investors. Porto will host the 1st edition of the SIM Conference from May 2nd to 4th. The event, taking place at the Alfândega do Porto Congress Center, aims to be a space for sharing and networking, capable of transforming the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Portugal.

The SIM Conference aims to showcase the best of the Portuguese entrepreneurship ecosystem and discuss the most relevant topics for founders and investors of startups in Europe.
Organized by Startup Portugal, with the support of Porto City Council, the conference will bring together startups, investors, and leaders from the entrepreneurial industry (both national and foreign), fostering knowledge sharing and creating connections among participants.
For startups, this is an opportunity to interact with investors and network with other entrepreneurs. Investors, on the other hand, will have the chance to meet founders, incubators, and talent based in Portugal with potential to integrate their portfolio.
The SIM Conference will have three distinct spaces:
- SIM – Connect is dedicated to networking;
- SIM – Learn consists of lectures and workshops with the participation of influencers in this sector. Health Tech & Wellness, Fintech, Smart Manufacturing, Sustainability, AI & SAAS, are some of the topics covered;
- SIM – Showcase aims to give visibility to startups, creating collaboration opportunities.
The choice of Porto to host the 1st edition of the SIM Conference is due, according to the organization, to its vibrant entrepreneurship system, with over 900 startups and about 50,000 employees. Startup Portugal also highlights the investment flow exceeding €985M between 2018 and 2022 and the fact that more than 90 national and international investors are actively involved in the region.
