Porto is the destination with the highest number of investments and jobs created in Portugal

The agency EY (Ernst and Young) says that Porto is the Portuguese city with the greatest number of investments and jobs created in the country. At national level, it highlights the sectors of consumer goods, real estate, construction and transport and car industry by investors not established in Portugal, and state that the sectors of ICT and tourism are seen by investors as the country's development engines.
According to the agency, Portugal managed to capture the highest value of foreign direct investment in the last 20 years, as stated in the Survey of Attractiveness of Portugal in 2017. In total, Portugal managed to capture in 2016 the record number of 59 Investments.
Since 2015, Porto has played an important role in attracting investment through the direct action of InvestPorto, established in 2015 by the Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, in order to support the economic development of the city.
The EY Attractiveness Survey is a study promoted at European level, with the objective of evaluating the perception of foreign investors regarding the attractiveness of the different locations. In this edition, companies that have invested or that have potential for future investment in the territory under analysis were surveyed and that are spread across 20 countries and in 5 different languages (German, English, Portuguese, Spanish and French).
