Porto Leading Investor Critical TechWorks plans to hire 300 employees by 2026
BMW Group technology company strengthens its operations in Portugal, focusing on artificial intelligence, software and autonomous mobility.
Critical TechWorks has announced plans to recruit approximately 300 new professionals in 2026, reinforcing its position as a key technology partner of the BMW Group.
Since its foundation in 2018 as a joint venture between BMW Group and Critical Software, the company has grown rapidly into a strategic engineering hub delivering advanced digital solutions for BMW on a global scale. Today, Critical TechWorks employs more than 3,000 people of 60 nationalities across Porto, Lisbon and Braga.
The 2026 recruitment drive will focus on domains that are central to the ongoing transformation of the automotive industry. Priority areas include software and product engineering, artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, digital mobility and autonomous driving. In addition to technical roles, the company is investing in strategic leadership positions, including an AI Mastermind Architect, a role designed to structure and scale AI solutions across core digital platforms and automotive products.
By expanding its teams in Portugal, Critical TechWorks further consolidates the country’s relevance within BMW’s global innovation network, with its engineering excellence and digital expertise.
