Porto Tech Hub offers career change opportunities for Quality Assurance Testers

According to the Experis Tech Talent Outlook, Portugal is the third country in the world to hire the most IT professionals in the first quarter of 2024. As a result, there is a growing demand for professionals involved in creating programs and applications, as well as those dedicated to testing them to ensure the quality of these technological products. With this in mind, Porto Tech Hub, in partnership with the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto, is announcing the second edition of SWitCH QA, a postgraduate course aimed at training Quality Assurance Testers.

The course has 30 vacancies available and the application deadline is February 4, 2024. The postgraduate course is aimed at everyone who wants to make a career transition and enter the technology sector and it offers many progression opportunities. The course is also beneficial for professionals currently working with manual software testing, as it enables them to update their skills to carry out automated testing.

There are no restrictions on candidates' academic background or previous work experience, all that is required is a completed degree. And, to facilitate the retraining of people who are currently working, the course is taught after work hours and lasts 32 weeks.

Upon completion, students are awarded a postgraduate certificate by ISEP. In addition, students may have the chance to do a paid internship at one of Porto Tech Hub's partner companies.

"Despite the high demand in the technology sector, the majority of Quality Assurance Testers lack specific training and in-depth knowledge of the real needs of the market. In Portugal, we are still behind our potential in the area of testing, which is crucial for the evolution of quality products. Our aim with SWitCH QA is to change that, by offering new professionals the chance to enter a career with great prospects for the future, becoming qualified specialists ready to innovate in a constantly changing sector," explains Joana Linhas, vice-president of Porto Tech Hub.

During the course, students will acquire fundamental programming knowledge and take part in subjects such as Software Development and Testing, concluding a project at the end of each module. The program covers the field of technology globally, highlighting how students can carry out more comprehensive and automated tests compared to the methods currently practiced on the market.

SWitCH QA comes after the positive results of several editions of the SWitCH Dev course, aimed at training software developers, which has already provided successful entry into the technology market for more than 200 professionals. For those interested in taking part in the second edition of this technological retraining program, all the information about the initiative and the application process is available here.
