"Southern European Stars 2020”, an online pitching session, is receiving applications from entrepreneurs until this Wednesday, May 13th.

The venture builder studio Bright Pixel and the venture capital companies Samaipata and Kibo Ventures brought together more than 20 investors from southern Europe for an online pitch session open to any startup. The Portuguese Armilar Venture Partners, BiG Start Ventures, Bynd Venture Capital, Faber Ventures, Indico Capital Partners, Sonae IM, Startup Lisboa and Shilling Capital Partners will be part of the investor panel.

"Southern European Stars 2020" is receiving applications from entrepreneurs until this Wednesday, May 13th. Then, the 15 chosen startups will have to prepare their presentation speech for the event scheduled for next week, on May 20th.

David Alonso, an analyst at Samaipata, explains that "this event is not meant to give credit to specific investors, but to involve all VCs in the same project and help the main players in the ecosystem, the founders." "The money is still flowing, ensures David Alonso.

The best in the B2B, B2C and healthcare categories will receive up to 10,000 euros per month for an entire year on free cloud services, in addition to technical support from IBM Cloud and AWS Activate, which collaborate with the initiative; advertising credit on one of the main platforms in the area, with support from some SEO/SEM specialists; free office space for three months in Lisbon.

"We believe that the entrepreneurship ecosystem has the potential to survive this crisis, as it is part of its nature to grow in adverse times. There are countless projects that are at an ideal stage to prosper and we want to help them take that step", says Marcos Azeredo, member of the Bright Pixel investment team.

The idea is shared by Rodrigo Viada Campos, investment manager at Kibo Ventures. "We are trying to relieve some of the uncertainty and pressure by doing what we do best: digitize something. This time, it's events."

"Southern European Stars 2020” also includes investors from United Ventures, JME Ventures, Milano Investment Partners, Adara Ventures, 360 Capital, P101, Indaco Venture Partners, Primomiglio SGR, Inveready, LVenture Group, Caixa Capital Risc and Demium Startups.
