Talkdesk raises 230 million in series D round and triples its valuation to over 10 billion
Executive Digest · 16 Aug 2021

Talkdesk, a Portuguese unicorn cloud software company for contact centers, announced the closing of series D financing. In this round of funding, the tech company raised 230 million dollars and is now valued at more than 10 billion dollars.

This financing aims to boost Talkdesk's second decade of growth, with the expansion of its presence internationally, focusing on product innovations related to the customer experience (CX), providing a meticulous and detailed customer service and creating teams diverse, equitable, and inclusive.

"For many organizations, the contact center is quickly becoming an engine of tangible business results and an asset to achieve them, and Talkdesk has, since its founding, challenged the status quo and the usual way. We are grateful for the continued confidence in our strategy and are increasingly determined about our unique ability to help companies deliver memorable customer experiences,” says Tiago Paiva, founder and chief executive officer of Talkdesk.

With a $10 billion valuation, Talkdesk is among the most valuable private companies in the SaaS (Software as a Service) industry.

Also new is the appointment of Sydney Carey, an expert in the SaaS industry, as the company's first chief financial officer (CFO). In this way, Talkdesk is unique in the technology industry, as half of the positions in the executive leadership team are now held by women.

"I'm proud to join Talkdesk at this critical time for the company. Some of the most rewarding experiences of my career have centered around helping fast-growing innovative companies like Talkdesk manage acceleration, scale effectively to respond to change that the business requires and to formalize operations”, says the CFO of Talkdesk.

New strategic investors such as Whale Rock Capital Management, IT Platform Management and Alpha Square Group participated in this recent round of funding – and existing investors – Amity Ventures, Franklin Templeton, Top Tier Capital Partners, Viking Global Investors, and Willoughby Capital.

Since its founding, Talkdesk has raised a total of $498 million in funding.
