U.Porto reaffirms academic excellence in THE World University Ranking 2026
U.Porto maintains national leadership and strengthens international, ranking among the world’s top 500 universities
The University of Porto has reaffirmed its prominence in the global higher education landscape by once again ranking among the world’s top 401–500 universities in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026, continuing to lead the national performance.
This international recognition reflects the University’s quality of teaching, research excellence, and strong ties with industry. U.Porto recorded notable improvements in the Research Environment and Industry indicators, standing out as the second-best Portuguese institution in both Teaching and Research Quality. For the first time, it is also listed among the top 300 universities worldwide in scientific output, marking an important milestone in its scientific reputation.
At the European level, the University of Porto ranks among the top 190–220 institutions and within the 126–151 range in the European Union, underlining its growing influence within the academic community. In the Ibero-American context, U.Porto is placed in the top 10 most prestigious universities.
The ranking also highlights the presence of U.Porto’s partners within the European University Alliance for Global Health (EUGLOH), reinforcing the University’s commitment to excellence, international collaboration, and the advancement of scientific knowledge.
