The Vietnam Ho Chi Minh City Festival in Porto, that took place in Alfândega until last Sunday, served as the pretext for the arrival of a Vietnamese committee to the city. At Paços do Concelho, the mayor of Porto City Hall and the vice-president of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh signed a memorandum of understanding, and these numerous moments were highlighted in about two dozen of media outlets in the South Asian country.

"Many activities for cultural exchange, promotion of commercial investments and tourism marked a new development in the relationship of friendship and cooperation between the two cities”, Nhân Dân points out, describing the festival as "the biggest event for commerce-investment-tourism and cultural promotion for the city of Ho Chi Minh in Europe in 2023”.

The newspaper mentions the statement of Rui Moreira when the mayor of Porto City Hall confirmed the interest of Porto in the event "because Vietnam is a country with my historical bonds, culture and affection from the Portuguese people”. "This is an important occasion for both sides to exchange measures and strengthen their cooperation in many fields”, the politician believes.
As for the vice-president of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh, Duong Anh Duc, Nhân Dân writes, "this festival is not only about cultural promotion at a large scale and the activity of promotion and commercial investment in the city of Ho Chi Minh in Europe during 2023, but it is also an expression of the government’s, localities’, and the Vietnamese and Portuguese people’s wish to bring this relationship of friendship and cooperation between the two countries to a new phase of development”.

In another article, the Vietnamese newspaper mentions the memorandum of understanding signed by Rui Moreira and Duong Anh Duc and recalls how "Porto is one of the main partners of the city of Ho Chi Minh. The two of them share many experiences to further promote each other’s strong aspects, especially in the areas of creation, innovation, commerce, tourism, and culture”.

The Vietnam Ho Chi Minh City Festival in Porto was also highlighted by the television network VTV, that mentions it as "an opportunity for the companies of the city of Ho Chi Minh and Porto to connect and negotiate.”. "The Vietnamese business delegation came to Porto to explore opportunities for investment in the small market on the South of Europe with many similarities” the media outlet adds.
