eDreams OGIDEO will hire in the city of Porto, starting this January
19 Jan 2021

eDreams Odigeo is aimed at hiring in the city of Porto. The company first landed in Portugal in February 2020, and more recently, it has settled its technological centre in Downton Porto, where it has expanded operations. The next step for this month of January is to hire circa 30 people to work with the "largest online travel agency in Europe”, as they put it.

The hub expansion is in line with the group’s goal of "leading the travel industry transformation and emerge as a winner in the post-Covid-19 era”, explains eDreams Odigeo in a statement.

"We are glad to continue our technological expansion at global level, especially in Porto, where there is a vibrant and expanding tech community and this will, for sure, bring talent to our team and further our innovation goals for the benefit of the traveller”, affirmed the technological director of the group, Carsten Bernhard.

The exact number of thirty people is advanced by the newspaper Jornal de Negócios, which further states that this is just phase one of a recruitment process that will extend throughout the year. The company’s needs include front and back-end engineers as well as iOS and Android developers.

Moreover, eDreams Odigeo holds 261 websites linked to travel applications and it is also one of the biggest European companies in e-commerce, as a consequence of the fusion, in 2011, of the eDreams and GO Voyagese companies, and the acquisition of the Opodo.

There are 17 million annual clients, from 45 markets that share the services provided by this large tech company, settled in Porto.
