Connection between the future Campanhã Intermodal Terminal and train and metro services begins tomorrow
Porto. · 15 Dec 2021
Another step towards the completion of the future Campanhã Intermodal Terminal (TIC) is taken this Wednesday, December 15. The municipal company GO Porto is starting the construction of the North Pedestrian Underpass, which will connect the new building to train, metro, taxi and other services.

The walkway will consist of an atrium, west access to the lines and the Metro, main circulation, access corridors to platforms and technical areas, presenting a "simple and functional public space" programmatic content.

According to GO Porto, it aims to allow "the interconnection between the new building of the Campanhã Intermodal Terminal, the regional, intercity, international and IP/CP suburban train services, light rail services, complemented by STCP urban transport services, cab services, kiss & ride services and car and bicycle parking services or spaces".

The intervention, under the responsibility of "Construções Pardais - Irmãos Monteiros, Lda", will take about eight months and involves an investment of almost 940 thousand euros.

Assuming itself as one of the structuring works of the city, the TIC will have parking at a reduced cost, contributing to the removal of more than 5.2 tons of carbon dioxide from the center of Porto.
