The best Portuguese airport is the Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, in Porto. The distinction takes into account punctuality, customer consideration and the quality of the restaurant and shops area. 

This classification is the result of the latest AirHelp Score, a ranking promoted annually by AirHelp, the largest international organisation for the defence of air passengers' rights.

Oporto airport obtained an overall score of 7.67, according to AirHelp. In punctuality it got 7.10, in customer consideration it got 8.52 and in the quality of its restaurants and shops it got 8.53.

In second place came Faro Airport, with an overall score of 7.21. Humberto Delgado Airport, in Lisbon, is the worst airport in Portugal, with a rating of 6.75.

The AirHelp ranking analysed 151 airports throughout the world, with the scores determined by punctual performance (which represents 60% of the score), the quality of service (20%) and the options of meals and shops (the remaining 20%).

Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport appears in 54th position in the 2022 ranking, registering the fifth highest rise compared to 2019, mainly due to the better performance in punctuality. At a European level, it is in the top 10, exactly in 7th position, of the European airports considered in the study. 

Lisbon airport appears at the bottom of the ranking, in 143rd place.

The best airport in the world is Tokyo Haneda International Airport, which achieved an overall score of 8.83.
